KILLEEN,TX-Elwood S. Jackson, 64, of Killeen, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 22, 2010. Born December 18, 1945 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Elwood L. and Virgie Lee (Tull) Jackson. He was a graduate of G.A.R. High School where he excelled in football and wrestling. Elwood spent most of his adult life serving his country. He retired in 1993 after serving 20 years with in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, the V.F.W. and the Shriners in Killeen, TX. He was preceded in death by his infant twin son, Vincent Vieney; sister, Marion Jackson and brother Lawrence Harvey, Sr. Surviving are his son, Videll Vieney and daughter, Sabra Carpenter, both of Wilkes-Barre; their mother Gwendolyn Vieney, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kevonna and Kenneth, all of Wilkes-Barre; Vinesha and Jessica of Philadelphia; 2 great grandchildren, Stephon and King James of Wilkes-Barre; sisters Jean Jackson and Shirley Lewis, Wilkes-Barre; Delores Jackson, Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Elwood, best known as "Beaver" will be greatly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Anthony Vieney and Reverend Gail Curlett officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
