Elwood F. Barr

Renovo - Elwood F. Barr, 79 of Renovo passed away, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo. He was born January 31, 1929 in Renovo the son of the late Harry & Drucella (Ryder) Barr. Elwood was married on June 13, 1953 to the former Elizabeth P. Potts they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary together. He retired from the Levittown School District after 30 years as a high school special education teacher. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Elwood enjoyed fly fishing and trips to Atlantic City, NJ. He was a 1957 graduate of Lock Haven University. Elwood served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his loving wife, one son Brian V. (Donna) Barr of Renovo, two daughters Nancy Keiper of Lock Haven and Judy Barr of Philadelphia. Six grandchildren Elizabeth, Aileen, John, Matthew, Sean and Aubrey and one great-grandson Gavin. Two sisters Alice Barr of New York City and Orpha Goldberg of Hollywood, CA A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo with Rev. Jozef Kovacik officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Bucktail Medical Center. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner.
