WILLIAMSPORT - Elva M. "Rustie" Dewald, age 86, formerly of Beech Creek, died at Manor Care North Nursing Home in Williamsport on Monday, March 22, 2010. She was born in Lock Haven on May 7, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Rebecca Hoffman. Elva attended the Mill Hall Assembly of God Church, enjoyed collecting gospel and country records, and was an avid fan of the "Grand Ole Opry." She worked as a self employed home nurse and also worked at Belle Springs Manor as a cashier and hostess, the Arena Restaurant in Lock Haven, Sylvania in Mill Hall, and at the silk mill during WWII. Surviving are two sons and two daughters. Also surviving is her adopted daughter and caregiver: Donna Carlson of Beech Creek, goddaughter: Linette Clausen of Lock Haven, her namesake: Rustina Knecht of Lock Haven and Rustina's two sisters: Makayla Knecht and Allison Clausen, and adopted grandchildren: Jerry and wife Audrey, Rick and wife Linda, Randy, and Denise. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 7:00 P.M. Friday with Rev. W. Stevens Shipman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 P.M. Interment will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Park at the family's convenience. Memorials are requested to the Infant Development Program of Lock Haven or the S.P.C.A.
