YORK- Elsie P. (Stambaugh) Winter, 70, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her residence. She was the loving wife of William R. Winter, to whom she was married to for 42 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Pastor Daniel Moore officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Winter was born in York on December 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy Stambaugh. Mrs. Winter was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. Mrs. Winter loved Scrabble, dancing, and gambling, especially going to Hollywood Casino. Most of all, she loved being "Nanny" to her grandchildren. Elsie and William loved to travel together to various destinations. They enjoyed spending every moment together. Along with her husband, Mrs. Winter is survived by a son, Brian A. Seager and his wife Whitney of York; three daughters, Debra Seager Killion and her husband Randy of Winburne, Melody A. (Seager) Wolfe and her husband Wayne of Felton, and Michelle K. (Winter) Downie of Palmyra; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was an uncle, Clarence Zorbaugh.
