WINDSOR - Elsie M. (Mundis) Baker, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Rest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in York after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of the late Sterling W. Baker. The couple wed on March 31, 1945 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage together. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11 AM at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with The Reverend Anthony Zumbo and Dr. John R. Baker officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Windsor Church of God cemetery. Born December 31, 1921 in Windsor Township, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Margaret K. (Newcomer) Mundis. Prior to her retirement Elsie was employed by various manufacturing companies. She was a lifelong member of the Windsor Church of God. Elsie was known as a great caregiver. She expressed her love to people through her cooking, singing and frequent visits. She had a great sense of humor. Mrs. Baker is survived by her only son, Dr. John R. Baker and his wife, Karel of Joppa, MD; a grandson, Joseph S. Baker and his wife, Tiffini of Bel Air, MD; and two great grandsons, Ryan and Shawn Baker. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy L. Baker; eight brothers and nine sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Recreation Department at Rest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 1050 South George Street, York, PA 17403.
