Elsie M. (Mcmillion) Spence Unger

Red Lion — Elsie M. (McMillion) Spence Unger, 92, died September 2, 2013 at her residence in Red Lion Borough. She was the wife of the late Harold J. Spence and George R. Unger. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main St., Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. David Tietje officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born April 21, 1921 in Esty, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Irene (Nelson) McMillion. She co-owned Spence’s Barber Shop in Red Lion for 34 years where she worked with her husband Harold as a barber/beautician. A member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, she also enjoyed sewing and spending with and taking care of her family and friends. Mrs. Spence Unger is survived by one daughter, Jean M. White and her husband, Gregg of Red Lion; one son, A. Cleon Spence and his wife, Linda of Taylorville, IL; two grandchildren, Gregory Spence and Noel Straley; two great grandchildren; one sister, Ina M. Fisher of Wrightsville and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Melvin McMillion and one sister, Mildred Nace.
