Elmer H. Smith

EAST BERLIN- Elmer H. Smith, 77, died on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Lehr) Smith, who died on June 10, 2014. The couple had been married for 56 years. A celebration of life service will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born February 9, 1939 in York, he was a son of the late Harvey and Elsie (Godfrey) Smith. Elmer worked for the former Heilig Brothers Wire Cloth, McCrory’s Distribution Center, Borg-Warner and retired from the 12th Ward Independent Democratic Club. Mr. Smith enjoyed camping, fishing and most importantly, spending time with his family. Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Ricky A. Smith and wife, Beth of York; two daughters, Robin E. Smith and fiancé Keith Trone of East Berlin and Linda Miller and husband, Bradley of Dover; nine grandchildren, Chad Reibold and wife, Tracey, Travis Reibold, Lacy Zimmerman and husband, Zack, Austin and Daniel Miller and Shane, Trevor, Caiden and Parker Smith; three great grandchildren, Ethan Reibold and Joey and Hannah Zimmerman; one brother, Wilbur Smith of York; and one sister, Betty Hamme of York. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey, Milton and Lewis; and three sisters, Delores, Mildred and Dorothy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N.
