Ellen (Merritt) Judson

TROY- Ellen (Merritt) Judson, 84, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 05, 2010 at The Troy Hospital. She was the wife of the late Loren R. Shorty Judson who passed away on January 8, 1993. The couple married November 12, 1943 and had 49 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Ellens life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 8th at the funeral home with Rev. Garry Zuber of the First Baptist Church of Troy officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of Ellens family in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be a time of food and fond memories of Ellen at 1:00 PM on Friday after the funeral at the Vets Club, 1 Veterans Drive, Troy, where all of her family and friends are invited. Ellen was born on January 1, 1926 in Cowley, PA, daughter of the late Mark and Bessie (Kittle) Merritt. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1943, and was a cheerleader for the Troy High sports teams. Ellen was a member of the Columbia Cross Roads United Methodist Church, and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Ellen was a homemaker, but moreover was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put her family first. Ellens family includes her son Louis R. (Vicki) Judson, II, of Athens, PA, her daughter Connie J. Myal of Troy and friend Michael Neff of Scranton, PA, her grandchildren: De Etta L. (Dennis L.) Murray of Troy, PA, Louis (Jennifer) Judson, III of Gillett, PA, Nate (Angie) Judson of Troy, PA, Matthew Davidson and Michael Davidson, both of Athens, PA, her great grandchildren: Jordan Murray, Taylor Murray, Gavin Judson, and Ryleigh Judson, her brother Edward (Judie) Merritt of Chattanooga, TN, and her sister Mildred Slingerland, along with several nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loren, her sisters and brothers: Benita, James, Ruth, Mike, Merle, Dorna, and Rex, and her son-in-law Dr. Edward T. Myal.
