Ellen L. (Hickman) Dickerson

YORK- Ellen L. (Hickman) Dickerson, 88, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at York Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.

Born on February 19, 1935 in Knoxville, TN, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Helen R. (Brodgen) Hickman. Ellen was a CNA at Rest Haven Nursing Home for over 25 years until her retirement.

Ellen loved her family and supported everything they did. She also had a passion for coffee. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by three sons, James David Hackworth of Summerville, SC, Harrison Hackworth and his fiancé, Noam Katan of York and Dallas Stanley Dickerson, Jr. and his fiancé, Cortney Hoover of York; daughter, Lawanna Ruth Hackworth and her fiancé, Timothy Smith of York; six grandchildren, Matthew Walter and his companion, Melanie Breneman, Adeline Dickerson, Candice Hackworth, Jennifer Hackworth, Dominic Smith and Caydence Grace; two brothers, Fred Hickman of Tennessee and Sam Hickman and his wife, Floss of York; daughter in law, Robin Colussi Hackworth of Summerville, SC; and her grand dog, Duke.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rest Haven Nursing Home, 1050 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
