Ellen E. (Hughes) Poet

CAMP HILL- Ellen E. (Hughes) Poet, 96, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at The Gardens at Camp Hill. She was the wife of the late Harry “Whitie” Poet to whom she was married for 55 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Paddletown St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 355 Church Rd., Etters, with Pastor Carl Redding officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Parkville Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Born on November 10, 1921 in Newberry Twp., she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Annie (Wilt) Hughes. Ellen was a homemaker. She also worked at hot houses and went to Eastern Market. Mrs. Poet was a member of the former Parkville Church. Ellen enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Poet is survived by two daughters, Gayle R. Schlosser and husband, Glenn of Goldsboro and Linda M. Frey and husband, Steven of Dover; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy F. Leese; and three brothers, Spurgeon, Wayne and Charles Hughes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkville Cemetery Association, c/o Doris Smee, 1495 Erney Rd., Dover, PA 17315.
