Ella M. Dowling

RENOVO - Ella M. (Marshall) Dowling, 85, of Farwell passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Bucktail Medical Center, S. Renovo.She was born in Renovo on June 30, 1932 a daughter of the late Leo and Inez (Lucas) Marshall Maietta. Ella was married on December 27, 1947 to Earl L. Dowling by the Rev. Roger Burtner in North Bend. On December 27th they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage together. She worked part-time in the kitchen at Bucktail Medical Center, Sylvania in Emporium and later she worked at K.C.S.D. cafeteria in Renovo retiring in 1990 due to a serious accident in 1987. She was an avid sewer especially quilts. Ella enjoyed reading, watching TV in the evening and taking rides in the mountains in the truck. She was the best wife ever. Surviving are her loving husband; two sons Earl L. (Michelle) Dowling, Jr. of Idaho City, ID and David (Kathy) Dowling of Wellsboro and also a daughter Diane Charles of Lock Haven. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Kathy Dowling in 1993 and a son Scott Dowling in 2011 also her step-father Thomas Maietta in 1994. Ella is survived by a sister Inez Uhlinger of Alexandria, VA and a brother Martin (Eva) Marshall of Williamsport. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at North Bend Cemetery with Martha Sykes officiating.
