Ella L. Machak

RENOVO- Ella L. (Davis) Machak, 89 of Bitumen passed away Monday, July 2, 2007 at her residence. She was born January 24, 1918 in Lock Haven the daughter of Clyde M. & Bertha E. (Shields) Davis. Ella was married on August 23, 1940 to John R. Machak they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Machak taught in a one room school house in Bitumen and Hammersley Fork and then retired in 1978 from Renovo Elementary School. She was a member of Bitumen Shrine and was a founding member of the Bitumen reunion. She was a member of the Westport Hospital Aide, Historical Society of Clinton County, Renovo Retired Teachers Association, Clinton County Retired Teachers Association and the Renovo Heritage Park. Ella attended the former Lock Haven Normal School and later received her degree in Special Education from Lock Haven Sate College. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and crafts. Surviving are her loving husband of 66 years. One Son George R. (Sandra) Machak, of Renovo Three daughter Margaret E. (Thomas) Jordan of Erie, PA, Mary A. (Todd) Stahley of Bartlesville, OK and Anna L. (Jim) Knauff of North Bend 8 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren One Brother George Davis of New Hope, PA She was preceded in death by three brothers Edward, Clyde and Richard. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Bitumen Shrine, Bitumen with Rev Donald E. Boslett officiating. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo from Noon - 2:00 P.M. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Bitumen Shrine, c/o St. Joseph Church or to Bucktail Medical Center.
