Elizabeth (Stevens) Jones

WILKES-BARRE-Elizabeth Stevens Jones, 85, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 surrounded by her loving family after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Luzerne on September 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Sarah Stevens. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a seamstress at local factories. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. After retiring, she was active in the foster grandparent program at the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. She loved spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren She was preceded in death by her grandson, Henry; great-grandson, Glen Jr.; a sister, Bernadine and brother, Claude. Surviving are her loving sons, Stephen Horensky and wife, Eileen, Wilkes-Barre; John Horensky and wife, Tita, Chino Hills, CA; Thomas Horensky and wife, Rose, Plains; loving daughters, Shirley Kratz and husband, Jack, Plymouth and Carol Dmuchoski, Wilkes-Barre; 9 grandchildren; 10-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Gwen Martinson, Kingston. Elizabeth’s family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially to Erin for their wonderful care. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Services have been entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
