Elizabeth "Betty" S. Wallace, 79, of Pottsville, died Friday evening at her residence. Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Kathryn Dunkel Shaw. She was a 1945 graduate of Pottsville High School. She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. She was a swimming instructor for the American Red Cross, a member of the YWCA, and a leader of the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Outdoor World Camping Association. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Harley. Surviving are her husband William R. Wallace; a son William R. Wallace , husband of Jo Hannah, Pottsville; a daughter Sharon Wenrich, wife of Steven, Schuylkill Haven; four granddaughters, three great-grandchildren,a sister Kitty Townsend, St Petersburg, FL nieces and nephews. She was a district manager for Avon and was owner and operator of the former Wallace Yarn Shop, Pottsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday in Saint Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. Friends mat call from 7:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., and from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at the church. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9956. Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
