Elizabeth M. (Waltemyer) Lewis

YORK- Elizabeth M. (Waltemyer) Lewis, 94, died on Friday, October 2, 2015 at her granddaughter’s residence. She was the wife of the late Niles W. Lewis. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave., York with the Reverend Keith C. Fair officiating. A funeral cortege will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born on July 19, 1921 in Yorkanna, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Emma E. (Kauffman) Waltemyer. Elizabeth was a homemaker. Mrs. Lewis was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was instrumental in forming the West Manchester Mall Walkers where served as secretary for many years. Mrs. Lewis is survived by one son, Ronald L. Lewis of York; one daughter, Ava M. Lewis of Old Orchard Beach, ME; three granddaughters, Jennifer Tremmell and her husband, Cleven, Michelle Richard and her husband, Cory and Kimberly McCulloch and her husband, Brent; and five great grandchildren, Darin, Braden and Brenna Richard and Brent and Brooke McCulloch. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey D. Lewis; and granddaughter, Barbara L. Lewis. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market Street, York, PA 17401.
