YORK- Elizabeth M. Baer of York, died Friday February 2, 2007 at the age of 85. She was the wife of the late George A. Baer. Mrs. Baer was born in York on September 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Amos W. and Margaret Aulbach Herrmann. She was a graduate of William Penn High School, 1939 and Duke University, 1943, where she was president of Sigma Kappa Sorority. In her earlier years she received the Girl Scouts' highest award, the Golden Eaglet Award, today known as the Golden Award. She was a teacher at Hanna Penn Junior High for five years, a Sunday school teacher at Trinity First Reformed Church, a member of the Junior League, a Girl Scout Leader, a York Hospital Volunteer, and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. At the time of her death, she was a member of the YCPASR retired teachers' organization and the York County Heritage Trust and their Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. Baer is survived by two daughters: Barbara L. Brady and her husband James and their children Lauren and Brian of Ridgefield, CT and Nancy E. Gresham, O.D., of Savannah, GA; a sister, Mary Louise Herrmann of Sister Bay, WI. Mrs. Baer was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Baer. The service and burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery were private and the Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., were in charge of the arrangements.
