Elizabeth “Liz” (Manley) Ripley

TROY-Elizabeth “Liz” (Manley) Ripley, 85, of Troy, PA passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Bradford County Manor. She was the wife of the late Earl C. Ripley who passed away on December 23, 2010. The couple married August 8, 1946 and had 64 wonderful years together. The memorial graveside service to honor Liz’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Glenwood Cemetery in Troy, PA, with Rev. Garry Zuber of the First Baptist Church of Troy officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Liz was born on November 1, 1925 in Troy, PA, daughter of the late Paul and Eleanor (Knowldon) Manley. She was a Troy High School graduate. Liz could be seen working with her husband Earl at Terrace Lanes bowling alley and was a child care provider for several families in Troy. She was a former member of the Troy Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and the Wheel Inn. Liz was a life member of the Troy Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary and also belonged to the Troy American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. When she was younger, Liz enjoyed dancing, camping, and traveling. She and Earl enjoyed taking several trips out to the western part of the U.S. Liz is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald & Carol Ripley of Troy, PA, her special granddaughter, Darcy & Tom Ripley-Sarosi, of McEllhattan, PA, her step-grandchildren, Kim & Larry Ballard of Towanda, PA, Chris & Melissa Kenyon of Troy, PA, her sisters-in-laws: Gloria Ripley and Ruth Manley, both of Troy, PA and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Paula, her brothers: Robert, Edward, Harry, and her sister Helen Estep.
