Elizabeth L. Sandt

YORK- Elizabeth (Lynch) Sandt, 86, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Lloyd O. Sandt, passed away on February 26, 2019, following a brief illness. Devoted mother to daughters Ruth (the late Gary), Susan (Dave), and Ann (Nevin) and loving grandmother to Len, Amy (Tim), David, and Adelyn and great-grandchildren Nathan, Drew, and Elizabeth. Born the youngest of 3 children to Raymond and Ruth Lynch on March 21, 1932 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Liz graduated from Linden Hall in 1950. She met Lloyd in 1951 at a school dance at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and they were married in 1953 while he was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska. Liz attended Glassboro State College after the birth of her third daughter and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Library Science. Liz worked as a School Librarian for Laurel Springs Public School for 23 years, sharing her love of books with countless students. In 1989 Liz was named Teacher of the Year. After retirement, Liz continued her library work, volunteering both at Stratford Public Library and at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Laurel Springs, New Jersey. She also volunteered at the Whitman Stafford House in Laurel Springs and was a member of the town’s Beautification Committee, planting numerous bulbs and trees to be enjoyed by all. Liz enjoyed life to the fullest and appreciated a good laugh. She loved reading, sharing books with others, her many gardens, and feeding the birds each day. Her greatest delight was spending time with her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. In York. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity International, 322 West Lamar Street, Americus, Georgia 31709-3543.
