Elizabeth G. Whitman

Renovo - Elizabeth G. "Libby" Whitman, age 83, died at her residence on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008. She was born in Renovo on November 12, 1924, daughter of the late Sherman J. and Mary (Ross) Friel. Libby was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, worked as a nurse's aide at Susque-View Home in Lock Haven for many years, and also worked at the former Renovo Hospital. She was a former member of the Renovo Elks Lodge and truly loved being just a "homemaker." On June 15, 1949 Libby married Fred D. Whitman in Renovo. He preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her daughter: Colleen Hess of Quakertown, grandchildren: Jody Hess, Joseph Hess, and Jennifer (Brian) Dey all of Quakertown, great grandchildren: Shane, Ashlynn, and Dana. Also surviving is a sister: Rose Poleto of Renovo, special friend: Mario Gentzyel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Libby was preceded in death by one sister, three brothers, and her son-in-law: Joe Hess. Memorial funeral services will be held at a later date and will be published when completed.
