YORK- Elizabeth C. (Barnhart) Zinn, 87, passed away Friday, May 01, 2015, at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of Earl R. Zinn. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on January 11, 2015. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with her Pastor, The Reverend Gerald R. Dunlap, officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born October 10, 1927 in York, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Paul C. and Mary R. (Zink) Barnhart. Mrs. Zinn was a lifelong member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Hanover. She was a 1945 graduate of William Penn High School and later attended night classes at the Gettysburg Courthouse. Elizabeth was the first female magistrate for Berwick Twp., Adams County, and served in that capacity from 1955 through the 1960’s. She also served as Berwick Twp. tax collector for many years and later worked as a tax preparer. Along with her husband, Mrs. Zinn is survived by a son, Earl P. Zinn and his wife Kay of York; a daughter, Susan C. Day and her husband William of Dagwood, DE; a daughter in law, Elizabeth Zinn of Cedar Hill, TX; seven grandchildren, Eric, Jeremy, Kristina, Rebecca, Alicia, Paul Jr., and Carey; 6 great grandchildren, Isabella, Alexis, Eric Jr., Perry, Ayvah and Matthew. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by a son, Paul D. Zinn and a sister, Janet L. Wayne.
