YORK- Elizabeth Ellen “Betty Ellen” (Dreistadt) Caton, 84, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Country Meadows, Trolley Rd. She was the wife of the late Thomas Albert Caton. The couple had been married for 53 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York, with the Reverend Gregory D. Wahlberg officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Chalk Hill Cemetery, 101 Chalk Hill-Ohiopyle Road, Ohiopyle, PA 15470. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born on September 19, 1933 in Uniontown, she was a daughter of the late Paul A. and Sara E. (Close) Dreistadt. Betty Ellen enjoyed her paper route she had as a kid before and after school and on the weekends. She also spent time on the family farm where she became an avid horseback rider and helped her mother at her sewing store sewing table clothes and curtains. Betty also worked at Bell Telephone Company and Murphy’s in Uniontown prior to marriage. Mrs. Caton met her husband at South Union High School in Uniontown and they wed in 1953 at 20 years old. Betty Ellen was a proud military wife, traveling with her husband for 37 moves in 23 years. Finally she and her husband moved to Florida for 18 years and to York in 2003 where she developed many longtime friends. Mrs. Caton was a member of Christ Methodist Church in Uniontown and attended Calvary Baptist Church since 2014. Betty Ellen leaves one daughter, Barbara Caton Glorioso and her husband, Dominic F. of Red Lion; two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Glorioso and Emily Frances Glorioso; and sister in law, Jackie Dreistadt. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shari Lynn Caton; and her brother, Richard Dreistadt.
