Pottsville- Elizabeth A. Ketner, 91, resident of Providence Place, Pottsville, passed away Tuesday at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on July 31, 1918, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Vogelgesang Wixted. She attended St. John the Baptist school. She worked for Mootz candies, Pottsville for over 70 years until she retired in 2004. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, where she belonged to the Catholic Women's Union and the 50 and over club. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Ketner, who passed away in 1988; her sister, Cline Wixted; her two brothers, Francis and William Wixted. Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Schweikert, wife of William, of Pottsville and Josephine Gallagher, wife of Richard, of Terra Alta, WV; her three grandchildren, William Joseph Schweikert, husband of Chazvon, Paul Francis Schweikert, husband of Suzanne, and David Patrick Schweikert; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 10th & Mahantongo Sts., Pottsville. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th 7 West Market Sts., Pottsville, and also on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at St. John the Baptist Church. Reverend David J. Loeper will officiate. Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
