Eleonore M. Pothering

Eleonore M. Pothering, 88, Pottsville died Saturday evening at Providence Place Retirement Community with her son George by her side. Born September 22, 1925 in Frankfurt A/M Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Anna Zumkeller. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Pothering in July of 1999 whom she met and fell in love in Germany while he was stationed with the US Army. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, the late Dolores Cahill Maige in July 2012 and a brother Gottfried Scheidt and a sister Otti Hubert. She was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Pottsville and was retired from the former Meyer Weiss Garment Factory, Pottsville. She was a dedicated and devoted Army wife who was supportive of her family throughout her husband's military career. She is survived by a son, George J. Pothering, Mt. Pleasant SC; grandchildren Michael Cahill, Havertown, PA; Jessica Pothering, NYC, NY; Courtney Cahill, Oakland NJ; and Ryan Pothering, Boston MA. She is also survived by a brother, OskarZumkeller, Wuerzburg, Germany and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to call from 9-10:30 AM Tuesday morning at Schlitzer Allen Pugh FH. Interment will be held at St. John the Baptist RC Cemetery, Pottsville.
