BURLINGTON, NJ- Eleanor F. (McCool) Palmer, 85, formerly of York, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at her home in Burlington, N.J. She was the loving wife of the late Charles E. Palmer. The couple was married 40 years. A funeral tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. Tusday, February 12, 2008, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Rev. Charles L. Persing, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dallastown, officiating. A viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born In Everett, Mass., on September 2, 1922, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Gertrude (Riley) McCool. She volunteered with the U.S.O. during WWII, where she met her husband, Charles. At age 46, Eleanor tok up trap shooting. She was the only woman to ever take state championship three consecutive years in a row in three different states- Pennsylkvania, Massachutes, and Connecticut. She shot at all the local trap shooting clubs. Eleanor was a member of the American Trap Shooting Association and Cavaliers Pocono Manor, Mt. Poconon, Shooting Club. Eleanor is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Palmer and his wife, Shirley of Bloomfield, Mich., and Richard L. Palmer and his wife, Anita of North Hampton, Pa.; a daughter, Susan K. Liger and her husband, Frank of Burklington, N.J.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, mary Ann Cook and her husband, Robert of Venice Beach, Fla. Preceding her in death was a brother, William T. McCool. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor's honor to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
