Eleanor A. (Votsmier) Alvey

York Haven—Eleanor Ann (Votsmier) Alvey, 78, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at her residence in Newberry Township. She was the wife of Joseph C. Alvey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 6 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal Rd, Abbottstown, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Messner officiating. A viewing will be from 5 to 6 p.m., Friday, at the church. Burial will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a date to be determined later. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Alvey was born January 16, 1929 in Ashland, Illinois, a daughter of the late Charles and Rosene (Dunlap) Votsmier. She was a dedicated and caring homemaker for her husband and children. Her children are especially grateful to their mother for raising them with a strong faith. Mrs. Alvey is survived by one son, David J. Alvey of Mechanicsburg, five daughters, Mary C. Bortner of Jacksonville, Fla, Theresa L. Miller of Loganville, Deborah A. Yambor of York Haven, Virginia C. Becker of Thomasville and Margaret E. Garavahlia of Atlanta, 18 grandchildren, one brother, William Votsmier of Iowa, two sisters, Margaret Ludlum of Bushnell, Ill, and Charlene Eck of New Berlin, Ill and nieces and nephews.
