York—Elaine L. (Lentz) Merica, 54, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She was the wife of Michael E. Merica, to whom she was married for 34 years. A celebration of life service will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard E. Jorgensen, Jr., officiating. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m., to 12 p.m., Tuesday, at the church. A private interment will be held at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Merica was born May 6, 1953 in York, a daughter of Janet M. (Stauffer) Lentz of Tucson, AZ, and the late William H. Lentz. She was employed as an Insurance Agent for 20 years, working for CNA Insurance Company for 17 years, where she retired from in 2006 and most recently worked as an Independent Agent. A member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in York, she was involved with the church's Cub Scout program and their Circle Group. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Merica is also survived by one son, Jason L. Merica and his wife Melissa of York, two brothers, Scott A. Lentz of Tucson, AZ and Brian L. Lentz of York, three sisters, Diane Hoover of Tucson, AZ, Barbara A. Bixler of Dover and Alice L. Palacios of York, numerous nieces and nephews and expecting her first grandchild in July. She is also survived by her two dogs, Snoopy and Mya. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N, York, Pa 17402 or St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, Pa 17401.
