STATE COLLEGE - Elaine June (Lucas) Gettig, 82, of Howard, died, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. She was born February 22, 1929 in Boggs Twp., a daughter of Milford E. and Maxine F. (Gault) Lucas. She was married July 20, 1948 to Charles F. Gettig who died in 1988. They celebrated 40 years of marriage together. Elaine worked for the former Corning Glass Works, State College where she worked on the “China Project” and later she worked for Kwik-Fill in Bellefonte. She was a member of Mt. Eagle Church of Christ. She was a former PTO President and secretary of Howard Twp., School Board. Elaine was Howard Twp. Tax Collector for three years. She was recording secretary of the American Flint and Glass Workers Local #1027. She was an avid gardener and was known for baking raisin filled cookies. Elaine’s home was the neighborhood-gathering place. Surviving are four daughters: Gwendolyn (Albert) Carusone and Helen M. Gettig, Marsha (Mike) Fannin and Bobbi J. (Donnie) Hill all of Howard. Six grandchildren Kristin, Kimberly, Jamie, Lucas, Elaina and Lindsey also six great-grandchildren Vincent, Samantha, Dominic, Miley Jo, Peyton and Y-Lan. Two brothers Milford and Richard both of Howard and also two sisters Dorothy Crock of Howard and Judy Hernandez of State College. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A former son-in-law Perry Lehman of Howard survives. Two brothers Phillip and Donald preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at Noon, Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Mt. Eagle Church of Christ, Nursery Road, Howard, PA 16841. Officiating will be Elders Phip McCartney, Ed McCartney and Phillip Lucas. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Mt.
