Edwina Ann Keech

Edwina Ann Keech, 92, of York PA, entered into God’s eternal care peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Born May 29, 1929 in Cambridge, MD, Edwina was the daughter of the late Edwin and Geneva Dashiell. After graduating from Cambridge High in 1946, she went on to study voice at The Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD. It was there she met her future husband, Hayden G. Keech of York, PA, then studying nearby at The Johns Hopkins University. The two were wed in 1948 at the Wilson Memorial Church in Baltimore and later moved to York where they went on to have four daughters. Edwina lived a life of service, foremost to her family as a loving wife and mother but also to the community of patients in her husband’s medical practice, where she assisted in the office attached to their home. Edwina was a gifted and tireless homemaker whose lemon and angel food cakes were legendary to family, friends, and neighbors. She was an opera and classical music enthusiast and enjoyed singing in the Christ Lutheran Church choir. She loved history, especially British and American, and was a proud member of The Huguenot Society of Maryland, Daughters of the American Revolution and The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Edwina was predeceased by her husband of 52 years and her sister, Nancy McNett. She is survived by her four children, Linda Keech of Murfreesboro, TN, Susan Kurz and her husband Richard of York, PA, Sharon Black and her husband George of Wallingford, PA, and Sally Keech, of York, PA; five grandchildren, Richard Kurz, Jr. and wife Sally, Andrew Kurz and wife Aly, David Kurz and wife Meg, Geneva Black, and Theodore Black; and eight great grandchildren, Hayden, Hadley, Penelope, Emily, Sebastian, Grant, Mary, and Genevieve. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, 2580 Mt. Rose Avenue, York with Rev. Tab E. Cosgrove officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-12:00 Noon on Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
