Edwin L. "Bud" Smith

MILL HALL - Edwin L. “Bud” Smith, 92, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Susque View Home, Lock Haven. He was born on January 09, 1924 in Lock Haven and was the son of the late Harman and Frances (Swope) Smith. Bud served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and earned the rank of Sergeant. He worked for the Hammer Mill Paper Mill for 43 years and retired in 1987. Bud enjoyed football and was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburg Steelers he also enjoyed reading, gardening and working in his workshop. Bud is survived by one brother and sister-in-law; William H. “Bill” and Jacqueline Smith of Mill Hall, two nieces; Judith and her husband Joseph Rishel of Rauchtown and Patricia and her husband Steve Stevenson of Lock Haven, one great niece; Sandra Stevenson of Hatsfield, one great nephew; Michael Stevenson of Sykesville, MD and his longtime companion Donna Butler of Mill Hall. Services for Bud will be held at the convenience of the family. Private burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.
