Edward H. Benedict

York—Edward H. Benedict, 75, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was the husband of Freda M. (Bly) Benedict to whom he was married for 55 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10AM, Monday April 16, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with Certified Celebrant Victoria Krouse officiating. Viewings will be held from 4-6PM, Sunday and from 9-10AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Quickels’ Cemetery. Born July 5, 1942 in York, he was a son of the late Emory H. and Thelma E. (Clark) Benedict. He was a 1961 graduate of William Penn High School. He was employed as a machinist for 30 years with Caterpillar until his retirement. A United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was also a member of numerous area clubs, enjoyed playing cards and attending block shoots. Mr. Benedict is also survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen Hunter and Nancy L. Erb; one brother, Gene R. Benedict and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Edward H. Benedict II and Jeffry A. Benedict; one daughter, Kelly A. Benedict; two brothers, Charles H. and Ray E. Benedict.
