Edward G. Runkle

FELTON – Edward G. Runkle, 91, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 5:30 AM. Mr. Runkle was born a twin of Edna May Runkle on April 7, 1927 in Felton; a son of the late Eli and Minnie (Flinchbaugh) Runkle. Ed was the husband of Darlene “Peg” (Stough) Runkle for 43 years before her passing on September 27, 2001. Ed and Peg remained on the home farm on Runkle Road in Chanceford Township, then retired and moved to Brownton Road. Mr. Runkle was a member of Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church. Ed was preceded in death by three infant children, Barbara Ann Runkle, born and died in 1958, infant Boy Runkle who died in 1960 and infant Girl Runkle who died in 1961; five brothers, George Raymond Runkle, John Adam Runkle, Henry Eli Runkle, William Elmer Runkle and Richard G. Runkle; and five sisters, Elsie (Geesey) Overmiller, Jessie Kate (Runkle) Wierman, Maggie Mardella (Runkle) Stern, Edna May (Runkle) Miller and Minnie Alice (Runkle) Royer. Ed is survived by a daughter, Carla Jo “Cookie” (Runkle) Sizemore and husband Brad of Airville; three grandchildren, Justin Messerly and wife Brandy, Desiree JoGean (Schmuck) Chittum and husband Jason, and Amber Elaine (Sizemore) Bish and husband Morris; three step grandchildren, Brad Sizemore and wife Mary Beth, Seth Sizemore and wife Heather, and Laura Dunn and husband Kyle; eight great grandchildren, Payton Royal Messerly, Jaydon Michael Hostetter, Emma Rose Chittum, Bethany Linn Bish, Rosalee Sizemore, Chaire Sizemore, and twins Lilandrea “Lily” Isabelle Bish and Luke Ian Bish; a sister, Janet Catherine (Runkle) Gladfelter of Felton; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 30, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Pastor David Kominsky officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zion U.M.C near Felton. Those wishing to make contributions in memory of Edward G.
