Edward E. Bower

YORK- Edward E. Bower, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Madeline D. (Wintermyer) Bower to whom he was married for 62 years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church of Spry, 2385 S. Queen St., York, PA 17402 with Pastor Jim Polanzke officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 24, 1928 in York, a son of the late George F. and Elizabeth (Jones) Bower. Mr. Bower proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War. He worked as a machine tender at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation for 42 years before his retirement in 1980. Ed was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed both fishing and hunting. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Spry, Starview Fish and Game club, and numerous other organizations. In addition to his wife, Madeline, Mr. Bower is survived by a daughter, Lisa A. Baughman and her husband Tom of York; a son, Forrest E. Bower and his wife, Elizabeth of Manchester; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Bower and a sister, Gloria Rosenswieg.
