Lock Haven - Edward D. Lachat, 88 of German Road passed away, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Lock Haven Extended Care Unit. He was born November 4, 1919 in Lock Haven the son of Albert & Edna (Herr) Lachat. Edward was married on December 14, 1944 to the former Luella M. Blesh who died March 12, 2004. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together. He retired from Hammermill after many years as a foreman. He was a member of Swissdale United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Edward attended Lock Haven High School and served in the Navy during World War II. Surviving are one son Larry (Sue) Lachat of Lock Haven and one daughter Anna May (Mike) Grab of Hummelstown. Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren Five brothers Albert, Lewis, Charles and William all of Lock Haven and Kenneth of Northumberland. Two sisters Betty Olmstead of Lock Haven and Shirley Russell of North Carolina He was preceded in death by his loving wife and a sister Olive Zerbe. The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Rev. Marie Lewis officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Swissdale United Methodist Church.
