Edward C. Myers, age 94, of Lock Haven, died at the Lock Haven Hospital on Sunday, April 27, 2008. He was born in Lock Haven on Dec. 25, 1913, son of the late William and Margaret (Surek) Myers. Ed worked as a silk spotter for Fromm's Dry Cleaners for many years and he and his wife, Ruth, were the caretakers at the Beth Yehuda Synagogue in Lock Haven for 18 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved gardening and animals, and he and Ruth spent their summers at their home on Pine Creek in Waterville. All the neighborhood children called him "Uncle Eddie." Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Some of the medals he received were the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. On July 13, 1941, Ed married Ruth Aikeley and she survives in Lock Haven. Also surviving is his son: Randall (Zandra) Myers of Mill Hall and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by two sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 with Lay Leader Sharon Nestlerode officiating. Friends will be received from 6:00 P.M. until service time. Interment in Dunnstown Cemetery will take place at the family's convenience.
