Edward C. 'Mike' Jenkins

TROY - Edward C. “Mike” Jenkins, Age 99, of 406 Wolcott Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 2, 2011. He was born June 11, 1912 in Springfield Township, PA son of the late Asa & Mary (Robertson) Jenkins. He and the late Dorothy E. (Baldwin) Jenkins were united in marriage on August 24, 1933 and celebrated 67 years together. Mike worked on the farm and later for Springfield Township Highway Department. He retired from PENDOT in 1978. Mike attended Leona Methodist Church and was a past member of the Big Pond Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and had a favorite team of horses. Mike skidded logs with the team and worked with them for many years. His other interests included hunting deer, bear, squirrels and rabbits. Ed was a past recipient of the Outstanding Sportsman of the Year Award. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Patricia) Jenkins of Rome, PA, Richard (Georgia) Jenkins of East Troy, PA, James & (Ruby Woodruff) Jenkins of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, daughters and sons-in-law, Doris (Lewis) Morgan of Allegany, NY, Janet (Max) Morgan of Gillett, PA, daughter-in-law, Carol Jenkins of Springfield, PA, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, special caregivers, Rebecca Alumasa and Kimberly Ondaga, several nieces, nephews and friends. Mike was the last surviving of his five siblings and was also predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2001 and his son, Michael Steven Jenkins. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 6 to 9 PM at the Vickery Funeral Home Inc, 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA and again on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 10 to 11 AM. Mike’s funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours 11 AM, Wednesday with Jody Kenyon of the Leona United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leona Road.
