Edward A. Keener

AIRVILLE – Edward Abraham Keener, 84, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Bear) Keener with whom he was married for 51 years.

Born December 18, 1938 in North York, a son of the late Lester and Romaine (Lentz) Keener, he was a 1956 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. Mr. Keener had retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 542. He was a member of both Ducks and Trout Unlimited, and was a former member of Mason Dixon Lions Club. Mr. Keener was instrumental in starting and maintaining a blood drive for Central PA Blood Bank in southern York Co. at New Covenant Comm. Church and Guinston Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bee keeping. He was a US Army veteran and was stationed in Korea during The Vietnam War. Above all, Edward loved the Lord and worshiped at Guinston Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Keener is survived by three sisters, Dolores E. Hamberger and Linda M. Copenheaver both of Spry, and Karen A. Rutherford of Mingo, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis W. Keener.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Guinston Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Rd., Airville with Rev. Dr. Daniel R. Moore officiating. Full military honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Guinston Presbyterian Church, c/o Historic Restoration Fund, 14130 Guinston Forge Rd., Airville, PA 17302 to help fund restoration of the Stone Meeting House.
