SHILOH - Edonna Jeanne “Donna” (Naill) Ness, 62, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of E. Edward Ness with whom she celebrated a 41st wedding anniversary on September 10, 2013. Following cremation, a time to visit with the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York with a service to celebrate her life to immediately follow. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Keith C. Fair. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Donna was born in York on November 10, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Marian E. (Myers) Naill. She was a 1969 graduate of West York High School and earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Saini Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore in 1972. A life-long nurse, she worked for many years with Dr. Robert L. Stremmel at Mill Creek Family Medicine as well as 27 years of service in the Emergency Department of Memorial Hospital. She also worked with OSS Health in York for 13 years. Donna’s first love was her family. She will always be remembered for putting others ahead of herself. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and assisted with Vacation Bible School; served as Camp Nurse for many years at Camp Setebaid near Berwick; was a substitute School Nurse at both West York and Central School Districts; was a past president of the Trimmer Elementary School PTO; was a West York Class of 1995 Parent Advisor; and thoroughly enjoyed watching her sons and nephews play sports as well as watching her daughter cheer. Donna also had a passion for antiquing and crafts and along with her brother operated Apple Barrel Crafts. Holidays with family were always a special time for her, especially Christmas. Donna’s favorite place to be was the beach with her family. In addition to her husband, Donna leaves her two sons, Christopher E. Ness and his companion, Alicia Ruby of West York, Kevin E. Ness and his companion, Melissa Troutman of New Freedom; her daughter, Kellye M. Ness of Shiloh; four grandchildren, Tori, Harper, Kaleb and Rylee; her brother, Eddie Thomas Naill and wife, Amy of Dallastown; her sister, Debbie Frey and husband, Jon of York New Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
