HANOVER TOWNSHIP-Edna S. (Feist) Mendygral, 85, of the Lee Park Section of Hanover Township, passed away Friday evening surrounded by her loving family in Manor Care, Kingston. Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Maryetta (Weidow) Feist. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the former Paul’s Place and South Wilkes-Barre Lunch. She was a former member of American Legion Post 609 Ladies Auxiliary. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother. She also had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John J. Mendygral, who passed away January 18, 2004; a sister, Rose Kemmerer and brothers Raymond Feist and William Spaide. Surviving are her sons, Peter Mendygral and wife, Susan, Hanover Twp., Joseph Mendygral, Hanover Twp., John Mendygral and wife, Jill, Harvey’s Lake; James Mendygral, Hanover Twp; Thomas Mendygral, Hanover Twp.;daughters Jane Welebob and husband, Michael, Hanover Twp., Maryetta Chapin and husband, Jeff, Hanover Twp. ; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jenny Romansky and Frances Hornak; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with services at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1000 South Main Street, Hanover Township. The Reverend Michael Erikson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1000 South Main Street, Hanover Twp., PA 18706.
