Brogue—Edna M. (Daugherty) Amspacker, 98, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at her residence in Chanceford Township. She was the wife of the late John H. Amspacker, Sr., A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. Kathleen A. Kuehl officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-2 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in New Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery. Born January 29, 1918 in Chanceford Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Carrie M. (Warner) Daugherty. She was a loving and caring homemaker, who enjoyed sewing, reading the newspaper, gardening, caring for her African violets, ancestry, playing the piano and listening to spiritual music. A member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brogue, she was a former member of St. Paul (Lebanon) Evangelical Lutheran Church and New Harmony Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Amspacker is survived by eight daughters, Martha Sonntag (Jay), Ruth Barrett (John), Rachael Stein (Paul), Sarah Patterson (Randall), Patricia Amspacker, Louella Ruff (Edward), Leah Rosario (Ramon) and Kristina Amspacker; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Mary Neubauer, their only son, John H. Amspacker, Jr., granddaughter, Dawn Sonntag; one sister, Ruth Stein and seven brothers, Walter, Furman, William, Mervin, Paul, Russell and Henry Daugherty. Memorial contribution may be made to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Rd, Brogue, Pa 17309 or New Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2295 Delta Rd, Brogue, Pa 17309 or Hopewell Cancer Support, 10628 Falls Rd, Lutherville, MD 21093. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Mary Fake, Deanie King, Nina Gray, Jeannette Vocht, Victoria Byorick, Deb Jones and all the caretakers for all their gentle care of their mother over the years.
