Edmund “Ed” S. Ryan, 58, of Orwigsburg , died Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born August 27, 1955 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late George Ryan and the late Joan (Zehner) Ryan. Edmund attended Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia for his first three years of high school. In 1973 he graduated from the Nativity B.V.M. High School, Pottsville. He received his Bachelors Degree from Penn State University. Since 1991, he was the MIS Director for Schuylkill County. Edmund was a member of the Schuylkill County Bowling Hall of Fame. In addition to his parents, Edmund was preceded in death by his son, Sean Patrick Ryan, March 1, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Karen (Pellegrino) Ryan, Orwigsburg; sisters, Colleen Ryan and her boyfriend Rusty Mataka, Pottsville; Kathleen Moorefield and her husband Tony, Stewartstown; Peggy Miller, Pottsville; several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Church of St. Patrick, Fourth and Mahantongo Streets, Pottsville, with Monsignor Edward O'Connor officiating. Family and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Sixth and West Market Streets, Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
