Edith R. (Bresaz) Schmidt

NANTICOKE-Edith R. (Bresaz) Schmidt, 87, formerly of Dan Flood Towers, Kingston died Sunday morning, May 6, 2007, at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke. Born October 7, 1919 in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Maria Knapich Bresaz and a graduate of Cole Township High School. She was employed at Diamond's Candy Shop, and prior to retirement, at several local sewing factories. She was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Nanticoke and its organizations, as well as a member of the Ladies Garment Workers' Union. In addition to her husband, Eugene G. Schmidt, Edith was preceded in death by her sons, Eugene Jr. and Fred; sisters, Mary Tomicich and Margaret Nahman; brother, John Bresaz; and half sister, Jeanne Yuzovich. She is survived by her son, Edwin Schmidt and his wife Barbara, Nanticoke; daughter, Edith J. Schmidt, Allentown; grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Melody and Kimberly Schmidt, and Erica Harris; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters, Anna Volpe, Westchester, and Lena Dilliplane, Shamokin. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 6:45 PM at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 5 PM until the time of the service.
