Edith M. Haagen

LOCK HAVEN - Edith M. (Burrell) Haagen, 96, died on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 at Geisinger- Lewistown Hospital. She had been residing with her son, Kim and his wife, Beth for the past 3 years. Born on June 16, 1921 in Lock Haven, PA., she was the daughter of S. Clyde and Grace Burrell of Salona, PA. Mrs. Haagen worked for E. D. Myers International Harvester, Lock Haven Housing Authority, and PennDOT, where she retired at age 70. She was a member of the Salona Lutheran Church. She graduated from L.H.H.S. in 1939, after which she was united in marriage to Sylvester “John” Haagen on Oct. 19, 1942 in Miami, Fl. where he was serving in the Army Air Corp. He died March 18, 1997. She was the last of 3 sisters, Evelyn C. McHenry and Betty J. O’Donnell. Surviving are 2 sons, Samuel A. Haagen of Lock Haven and Kim L. Haagen of Lewistown, PA., 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Salona Lutheran Church, Long Run Rd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Karl Runser officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
