YORK Edith L. (Leeper) Smith, 94, died Tuesday evening, May 5, 2015 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Dr. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Smith, Jr. A graveside tribute service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Prospect Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Susan Oelrich, Chaplain at Pleasant Acres, officiating. A procession will assemble at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 AM. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smith was born December 28, 1920, in York. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Myrtle (Brown) Leeper. She had been a secretary with various York area businesses over the years, most recently at A.B. Farquhar, Co. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, York, was very involved with the York Little Theater, and was an avid collector of York memorabilia. She also enjoyed square dancing, playing the piano and playing cards. Mrs. Smith is survived by her niece, Diana Manners; her nephew, Douglas Townsend; an aunt, Margaret Snyder; and her very dear friend and care giver, Jane Wagman. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Leeper. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
