POTTS GROVE - Edith K. (Machamer) Reichard, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville at the age of 92. She was a resident of Grandview Health Homes, Danville. She was born on January 29, 1923 in White Deer and was the daughter of the late Ivan L. and Grace Olive (Ranck) Machamer and two step mothers; Thelma and Mildred. She was married to the late Irvin H. “Butch” Reichard for 32 years before his death on December 26, 1975. She had met her husband while they both worked at Fox Knapp in Milton and they were married by Reverend Myles Smeltz on April 9, 1943. Edith is survived by three daughters; Carole A. Dingess of Lanham, MD, Gloria M. (husband William) Blass of Danville and Kay M. (husband Robert) Kerstetter of St. Cloud FL, one son; Irvin H. (wife Amy) Reichard, Jr. of St. Marys, two sisters; Geraldine Shreck of Lewisburg and Melladine (husband Ralph) Dorman of Mifflinburg, eight grandchildren; Ralph “Bud” Dingess, Kathy Dingess, Tammy Graham, Christine Rasmussen, Timothy and Aaron Blass, Scott and Natalie Reichard, 12 great grandchildren; Candice and Alicia Graham, Ryan, Laura and Kylie Dingess, Alexandria, Abby and Jacob Rasmussen and Rachel, Gwendalyn, Jacob and Emily Blass. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother; George “Buddy” Machamer of New Columbia and one sister; Louise Fisher of West Milton. In addition to raising her four children, Edith loved to bake (especially sticky buns) and sewing. She had also worked at the Arrow Head Restaurant, Limbaugh’s Baker, Milton Shoe Factory, Colonial Fair, The Milton Area School District cafeterias and was a tax assessor for East Chillisquaque Township. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Potts Grove, where the Reverend Thomas M. Glasoe will officiate the service. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Private interment will be held in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 70 S. Mill St., Potts Grove, PA 17865 of which she was a member for 72 years or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Northeastern Region, 71 Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
