Edith G. Stambaugh

DOVER – Edith G. Stambaugh, 95, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her residence. She was the wife of Jack S. Stambaugh to whom she was married for 67 years.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will take place at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11 AM with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating the service. There will be a viewing prior to the service from 10-11 AM, as well as Monday, October 30, 2023 from 7-8 PM. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York.

Born May 14, 1928 in Swissvale, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence A. George and Edith M. (Hixenbaugh) George.

Mrs. Stambaugh was a 1946 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. For most of her working life, Edith was a bank teller for First National Bank. Following her banking career, she followed her military husband to Iran where she worked as a secretary at his base for seven years. In her free time, Mrs. Stambaugh was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, loved to go to the shore and enjoyed reading.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stambaugh is survived by several nieces and nephews, Stacey Sheffer, Karen Lineweaver, Kimberly Stambaugh, Shane Stambaugh, Scott George, Michael George, Tracy George and Eric George. She is preceded in death by her brother Lawrence F. George and her sister Diane E. Test, as well as a niece Jeanie VanDevender.
