Edith F. (Hyson) Spyker

STEWARTSTOWN - Edith F. (Hyson) Spyker, 90, passed away Sunday January 4, 2009 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Henry B. Spyker. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday January 8, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her pastor, The Rev. R. Howard Edmondson officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Wednesday January 7, 2009 and from 9-10:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Paul's (Mt. Pleasant) Cemetery. Born March 4, 1918 in Crossroads, a daughter of the late Owen and Barbara (Wagner) Hyson, she was a 1935 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mrs. Spyker had worked as a sewing machine operator prior to her marriage, then after marriage helped her husband on their family agriculture farm. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, often providing instruction to local 4-H groups in that trade. Edith has won numerous awards throughout PA for quilts that she made. Mrs. Spyker is survived by a son, Wayne H. Spyker of Stewartstown; three grandchildren, Heather Burns of Red Lion, Andrew Spyker of Raleigh, NC, and John Spyker of York; two great grandsons, Erik and Nathan Spyker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, David L. Spyker; a brother, Howard Hyson; and a sister, Dorothy Grim. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's (Mt.
