Edgar R. "Ed" Sollenberger

MILTON - Edgar R. “Ed” Sollenberger, 77, died unexpectedly Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born on September 11, 1938, in Williamsburg and was the son of the late Wilmer and Hazel (Harbaugh) Sollenberger. Ed was married to the late Arlene G. (Prussia) Sollenberger for 48 years until her death on December 20, 2010. On August 15, 2015, Ed married Connie S. (Couch) Snyder, who survives, his death came just a few days before their seven-month anniversary. Ed graduated from Erie Area High School Class of 1956 and then went on to earn his bachelors degree in business from Penn State University Class of 1960. While Ed was at Penn State, he served with the National Guard. After earning his degree, Ed went to work for ACME Markets of Philadelphia and in 1998 retired as a manager after working there for 35 plus years. He was a member of the Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Milton; Wynding Brook Golf Club, Milton; the Milton YMCA; the NRA and the Penn State Alumni Association. Ed enjoyed politics, golf, hunting, being outdoors, music and traveling. In addition to his wife Connie, Ed is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; David R. and Mickie Sollenberger of Merchantville, New Jersey and Jon P. and Carol Sollenberger of Springfield and two grandchildren; Emily R. and Dylan J. Sollenberger both of Springfield. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Ed was preceded in death by one infant sister. A public viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, 2985 Broadway Road, Milton, PA 17847 and again from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at the church followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Martino officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery, Milton. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
