Edgar F. Shaub

New Freedom—Edgar F. Shaub, 79, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Johns Hopkins Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Teresa A. (Chronister) Shaub to whom he was married for 22 years on February 15th. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 AM Friday, June 14, 2013 at West Poplar Street Church of God, 919 W. Poplar Street, York with Rev. Mark Hosler officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9 PM, Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York and from 10-11 AM, Friday at the church. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born December 8, 1933 in York, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Sarah A. (Miller) Shaub. He was employed as a manufacturing operations manager with Allis-Chalmers for 25 years and later retired in 1994 from MRC in Hunt Valley, MD He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them as much as they did with him. He loved to spend his free time at Kent Island on his boat. He loved sitting on the front porch of his cabin enjoying his morning coffee; a cabin that he and his family built in Perry County in 1976. The cabin was affectionately known as “man town”. Life was never about him, he always put his wife, children, grandchildren and friends first to ensure their needs were taken care of before his own. If asked how he was doing, he would always say fine, even if he wasn’t. He had a special sense of seeing things in people that they didn’t see in themselves. Many would seek out his advice because they knew he had great insight. He knew the right things to say, when saying it was appropriate, but he also knew when not to say anything and let the other person, “figure it out”. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy to be remembered by all. He walked thru life being kind to others, facing each of life’s challenges with courage, strength, integrity and dignity. He set the perfect example for others to do the same. He will definitely be missed by his children who enjoyed being with him, having dinner, drinking wine and celebrating just being together. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shaub is survived by, three children, Ranee Shaub Miller and her husband, Delvin of York, Nolan R. Shaub and his fiancé, Michele King of Topton and Edgar C. Shaub and his wife, Wendy of York; four grandchildren, Warren Shaub of Kutztown, Laura Cohen of Arlington, VA, and Cassie and Grace Shaub both of York; two great grandchildren, Tiberius and Harrison Shaub; two brothers, Raymond and Marc Shaub both of York; two sisters, Barbara Messinger and Judith Neuman both of York and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two nephews; one niece; and a great-nephew.
