YORK- Earl R. Zinn, 90, of North Codorus Twp., passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Rest Haven in York. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth C. (Barnhart) Zinn. Before her passing on May 1, 2015, the couple had celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. His pastor, The Reverend Gerald R. Dunlap will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Zinn was born in Berwick Township, Adams County on February 27, 1925, the son of the late John F. and Hattie E. (Small) Zinn. He retired in 1990 after 33 years of service as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Bethlehem Steel in Hanover. Mr. Zinn was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Hanover. He was also a member of Pleasureville American Legion and served in the US Army in the European Theatre in WWII. Mr. Zinn leaves a son Earl P. Zinn and his wife Kay of York; a daughter, Susan L. Day and her husband William of Dagsboro, DE; a daughter-in-law, Beth Zinn of Cedar Hill, TX; seven grandchildren, Eric Jeremy, Kristina, Rebecca, Alicia, Paul, Jr., and Carey; and six great grandchildren; Isabella, Alexis, Eric, Jr., Perry, Ayvah, Matthew, and an expected grandson in April. A son, Paul D. Zinn, two sisters, Edna Baublitz and Minnie Mummert and two brothers, John and William Zinn had preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Building Fund, 205 Fulton Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
