LOGANVILLE - Earl R. Markle, 78, died at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of the late Stephanie D. (Stine) Markle. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Markle was born May 19, 1929, in York. He was the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Sharp) Markle. He was a self-employed plumber retiring in 1990 after many years in the plumbing and heating industry. He previously worked with Sears Roebuck & Co. Mr. Markle enjoyed attending activities with his family at the 12th Ward Republican Club, the Wago Club and the Eagles. He also enjoyed music. He leaves four sons, Earl E. Markle and wife, Cindy of Newberrytown, Rick L Markle and wife, Theresa of York, Richard G. Markle and companion, Sandy Kauffman of Jacobus, and Michael A. Markle and companion, Melinda Shriner of Loganville; a daughter, Patricia M. Smith and husband, Roy of Loganville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three brothers, Spurgeon Markle of Red Lion, Roger Markle of Brogue, Royce "Sonny" Markle of York; and four sisters, Ferne Thompson of Arkansas, Mabel "Penny" Hockensmith of Erie, Susie Schaffer and Louise Miller, both of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Lavern "Pap" Markle; and a sister, Lois Hamberger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
